TheĀ Race-2-Ride Coaching Toolkit:
Give your clients a standardised, evidence-based frameworkĀ

The OTT Coaching Trap

You see it every week: a client buys a beautiful off-the-track horse but lacks the specific, evidence-based tools to handle track-ingrained behaviours safely. You spend half your lesson timeĀ addressing basic handling or anxiety issues rather than progressing with their riding.

Most equestrian coaches are classical riding experts, but very few have specialised training in OTT learning psychology. Race-2-Ride fills that gap. By anchoring your clients to a standardised,Ā evidence-based training passport, you give them explicit, structured 'homework' modules to follow between your sessions. You get a safer arena, faster client progress, and consistent training results.

The Coach Membership & Community Features

Race-2-Ride isn't just for racing authorities. If you love OTT horses, work with them, or simply believe the industry can do better, you're exactly who we want on this journey. Trainers, coaches, vets, breed societies, equestrian media, Pony Club volunteers, riding instructors, and passionate horse owners all have a role to play.

Built for Global Coaching Standards

No matter where your arena is located, the language of equine learning theory remains identical. Race-2-Ride is built to seamlessly integrate with your local equestrian culture, providing an international framework for coaches who want to elevate their retraining standards.

  • In Australia & New Zealand: Give your riders a structured pathway that perfectly complementsĀ all local OTT rehoming initiatives.

  • In the UK & Europe: Provide a powerful, evidence-based training companion that aligns beautifully with RoR (Retraining of Racehorses) and BHS goals, giving your students structured 'homework' that saves their progress between your weekly yard visits.

  • In North America: Streamline your training programs for OTTBs, giving your amateur adult and youth riders the exact behavioural safety nets they need to transition their horses smoothly into hunter/jumper, eventing, or dressage disciplines.

A Foundational Opportunity: The Pilot Project Phase

This dedicated coach membership tier is launching exclusively alongside our current pilot project phase. Because we are focused on gathering data and refining the framework with active coaches on the ground, we are making this space incredibly accessible for early adopters.

  • Pilot Project Pricing: For a limited time, coaches can secure lifetime access to this specialized weekly live coaching cohort for a single investment of just AU$197 -Ā the exact price of a single standard Training Passport.

  • Future Leadership Opportunities: As Race-2-Ride rolls out globally beyond the pilot phase, we will be establishing physical and digital regional hubs. Coaches who join us now, help shape the community, and master the R2R modules will be first in line for invitations to lead these regional centers as recognized Race-2-Ride representatives in their areas.

Global Access, Local Impact Live coaching sessions are recorded and uploaded immediately to your Coach Community Dashboard with an active Q&A submission board. If you cannot join the live stream due to international time zones, you can submit your client video clips and questions in advance, and Kate will break them down live during the broadcast.

About the Founder, Dr Kate Fenner

I bring over three decades of specialised experience in off-track thoroughbred retraining, combined with rigorous academic credentials that bridge the gap between scientific research and practical application. My journey began decades ago with a horse straight from Tommy Smith’s stables that followed me to boarding school, and eventually led to competing at the Rolex International level in Asia. With a PhD in Horse Behaviour and Training and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Queensland,Ā I have dedicated my career to understanding how horses learn and developing evidence-based training methods that prioritise both safety and welfare.

My published research on horse behaviour, training, and welfare has influenced international equestrian standards. At the same time, my practical work through Kandoo Equine has helped thousands of horse owners successfully train their horses at home. My unique understanding of the challenges facing OTT horses - and their predominantly female owners - stems from decades of hands-on retraining work and systematic research into how racing backgrounds affect learning and behaviour.

The Race-2-Ride Training Passport represents my commitment to solving a critical gap in thoroughbred welfare: ensuring every off-track horse has access to specialised, evidence-based training support throughout their entire post-racing life, regardless of how many times they change hands.

I created this specific space because I know how isolating coaching can be. As coaches, we are expected to have all the answers for every complex behavioural issue that enters our arena. This membership is about giving you an expert, research-backed peer network to lean on.

My Legacy Project

Race-2-Ride is the culmination of my life’s work. My mission is to ensure that the most vulnerable horses and their owners, those who often fall through the cracks of existing initiatives, have the evidence-based support they need to stay safe and successful.
