Race-2-Ride Training Passports
The Race-2-Ride Mission: Stewardship from Day One
At Race-2-Ride, we believe that an industry’s responsibility to a horse begins the moment they are brought into the world. Traditionally, welfare support has focused only on the horses that make it to the winner’s circle. But the data tells a different story: 34% of horses bred for racing never actually set foot on a track. By attaching the Race-2-Ride Training Passport to a horse’s initial Foal Registration, we close the gap that allows thousands of "unnamed" horses to disappear. We ensure that every Thoroughbred and Standardbred born into the industry is equipped with a digital identity and a pre-funded safety net of expert support—whether they become a Melbourne Cup winner or a cherished family pleasure horse.

CLOSING THE VISIBILITY GAP
Most programs wait until a horse is retired to offer support. This can create a "welfare crisis" where horses that fail early in training or never race fall through the cracks. The Race-2-Ride Passport changes the game:
-
100% Coverage: By linking the passport to the foal’s microchip at birth, we track 100% of the crop, not just the successful athletes.
-
Continuous Traceability: The passport follows the horse through every change of ownership during its 25–30-year lifespan.
-
Pre-Funded Success: We remove the financial barrier to welfare by ensuring the training is already paid for before the horse ever reaches a second-career owner.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE: THE RACE-2-RIDE COMMUNITY
Owning and retraining an Off-The-Track (OTT) horse is a journey of incredible highs, but it can also be profoundly isolating. Many owners feel overwhelmed by "racing-brain" behaviours - the flight response, the "on-the-move" mounting, or the struggle to maintain weight or soundness.
The Race-2-Ride Community (The Social Club) is the heartbeat of our platform. It is a moderated, supportive space where you can connect with thousands of other owners who "get it."
-
No Judgment: A safe space to share the less-than-perfect moments and celebrate the small wins.
-
Weekly Live Support: Join Dr Kate Fenner and our panel of experts for live Q&A sessions to troubleshoot your specific hurdles.
-
An Expansive Network: Whether you are in a remote paddock or a busy city stable, you are part of a movement dedicated to ethical, science-based horsemanship.
SCIENCE-LED, HUMAN FOCUSED TRAINING
Founded by Dr Kate Fenner (PhD), an equine scientist and researcher specialising in horse behaviour, Race-2-Ride is built on the principles of Equitation Science. We don't believe in "breaking" horses; we believe in building them.
Our curriculum focuses on relaxation, clear communication, and the "Engagement Zone." We teach you how to understand the horse's perspective, using evidence-based, non-strength-based methods. This ensures that every horse—regardless of their racing history—can transition into a safe, reliable, and happy riding partner.
The "Dual-Identity" Model: How It Works
To ensure the horse is protected while the owner is connected, our platform uses a unique dual-login system:
-
The Horse’s Passport (The Digital Access): This account is tied to the horse's microchip. It contains the whole training system, video lessons, and resources. When the horse is sold, this login moves with them.
-
The Social Club (Your Personal Profile): This is your personal account. It’s where you make friends, join the community, and access live coaching. Even if you sell your horse, you keep your seat in the community.
